Yankees rally past A's 4-2 in extras

Walk-off homer in 10th gives New York 12th straight win

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo celebrates with teammates after hitting a walk-off home run against the Oakland Athletics in the 10th inning. The Yankees won 4-2

The New York Yankees extended their winning streak to 12 games with a 4-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics in 10 innings on Monday night at the Oakland Coliseum. Anthony Rizzo hit a walk-off home run off A's reliever Domingo Acevedo with one out in the 10th inning to give the Yankees the win. It was Rizzo's 29th home run of the season and his sixth walk-off hit. The Yankees have now won 20 of their last 22 games and are 33-15 since June 1. They are now 10 games ahead of the second-place Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. The A's, meanwhile, have lost seven of their last nine games and are 38-60 this season. They are in last place in the AL West, 28 games behind the first-place Houston Astros. The Yankees took an early lead in the game when Gleyber Torres hit an RBI single in the first inning. The A's tied the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Shea Langeliers, but the Yankees regained the lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Aaron Judge. The A's tied the game again in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Tony Kemp, and the game went into extra innings. The Yankees had a chance to win the game in the ninth inning, but they stranded the bases loaded. Rizzo came through in the 10th inning, however, and the Yankees were able to escape with the victory. The Yankees will now head to Seattle to face the Mariners in a three-game series. The A's will remain at home to face the Texas Rangers in a three-game series.
